App-ly Yourself! Digital Apps for Exploring Durham Tech Libraries
While students and staff can explore the library's website and its many resources on their smartphones and tablets, dedicated standalone apps for these devices can still offer a great deal of flexibility. Users may already be familiar with Libby, which grants Durham Tech users access to the wonderful Dogwood Digital Library collection, which offers popular fiction and non-fiction books. National Library Week 2020: Find the Library at your Place (and our New Social Media Accounts)
It's Friday, y'all! We made it to the end of another week doing the social distance disco. This week is National Library Week, too. The theme for this year's National Library Week was originally "Find Your Place at the Library." However, it was chosen before COVID-19 forced everyone out of physical library spaces. Due to current circumstances, the theme was reassessed and became "Find the Library at Your Place." (Note the stay-at-home worker in the lighthouse using those sweet library databases
What We're Listening To: Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown
Emotional intelligence is HARD, but being able to identify where your emotions are coming from and actually having the language to identify those emotions (and the differences between them) can help. This book was read via audiobook by Meredith Lewis, the (mostly) Orange County Campus Librarian. Fire and Rescue Professional Training (Continuing Education)
Classes are held at the Northern Durham Center campus as well as individual fire departments. Training help within local fire departments enables personnel to develop and enhance skill levels with the equipment they use in controlling fires.
Tobacco-Free Campus
Policies and Procedures Manual: Employees, students, visitors, and contractors are prohibited from using tobacco products at any time on college property as well as on any spaces where college-sponsored or college-related activities are held, including during non-instructional and non-service hours.
Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals Certificate
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fundamentals Certificate program prepares students for entry-level roles supporting artificial intelligence technologies in the IT sector. The program is designed for individuals seeking foundational knowledge of AI concepts and practical skills for working with AI-driven tools and systems.
Nurse Aide II (Continuing Education)
Take your Nurse Aide care to the next level. The Nurse Aide II course prepares graduates to perform more complex and invasive patient care skills, as well as continue to provide basic nursing care for adults.
News: Durham Tech’s Johnson-Arnold honored as Live Fierce award recipient
Letitia Johnson-Arnold, coordinator for the Community Health Worker program at Durham Tech, was honored as the 2024 Triangle Heart Walk Live Fierce award recipient at the recent American Heart Association Heart Walk.

The award, presented by Vontier, honors individuals or organizations that “live fierce” for themselves, their loved ones and their community and that are catalysts for longer, healthier lives for people.
News: Durham Tech chef returns to State Fair to judge food entries
In her sixth year of judging recipes and food at the North Carolina State Fair, Durham Tech Executive Chef and Café Manager Jordan Fulchiero looks forward to the event each fall.

“It is fun in and of itself but made so especially because it is nice to see industry friends that I see this one time of the year,” Fulchiero said.
