News: Durham Early College of Health Sciences celebrates opening with ribbon cutting
Durham Public Schools, Durham Tech, and Bloomberg Philanthropies joined Duke leaders on Wednesday in celebrating the ribbon-cutting of the new Durham Early College of Health Sciences (DECHS). Located in Research Triangle Park and made possible through a $29+ million grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, the school is a collaborative effort to position Durham and the Triangle as a model for preparing the next generation of health care providers.
News: 60 for 60: Since first travel abroad trip in 2005, Durham Tech students have seen the world
In 2005, Durham Technical Community College offered its first travel abroad opportunity for students.

The group traveled to Santiago, Chile, to visit Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda’s home. Participants had the chance to take culture classes, Spanish classes, learn about the country’s geography and history.

Since then, students and faculty at the College have traveled to Central and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa on various trips.
News: Durham Tech changed lives of three generations of one Durham family
From one generation to the next, the​ Westbrook ​family has found an educational home at Durham Tech. 

“In church one day a fellow parishioner and Durham Tech employee, Lauren Norton, and I were talking. I mentioned that three generations of my family had attended Durham Tech and inquired as to whether this was an oddity,” Sue ​Westbrook ​Rice said.

News: 60 for 60: Durham Tech kicked off 60th anniversary celebration with William. G. Ingram Center dedication, Night at the Bulls
More than 100 campus community members, including local and regional elected officials, current and former Board of Trustee members, College partners, alumni, retirees, employees and students gathered for an outdoor ceremony to celebrate the dedication of the Ingram Center. The Center is the first new academic building on Main Campus in 15 years.

Former President Ingram was the College’s fourth leader and served in a variety of leadership roles at Durham Tech over four decades.

News: Support from College helped student on journey to UNC
Charlie Armitage has fond memories of her time at Durham Tech and believes the College helped put her where she is in her life.
Armitage graduated from Durham Tech in 2022 as part of the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-Step). She went on to graduate in two years from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2024 with a major in psychology and a minor in anthropology.
News: Durham Tech Small Business Center, Corporate Services moving to Chesterfield Building
Durham Tech is launching a new downtown Durham location.
The Durham Tech Small Business Center and Corporate Education department will be housed in the redeveloped Chesterfield Building in the 700 block of West Main Street.
The new location will open in Fall 2018.
News: Durham Tech grad makes leap from food and beverage industry to operating room
New Hampshire native and Durham Tech graduate Janice Lee came to North Carolina in 2015 and took a job in the food and beverage industry. But in the back of her mind, she knew she wanted to go back to school but she didn’t know what she wanted to study.

Lee began looking into job availability for surgical technicians, salaries and schools where she could obtain her surgical technician certification. Durham Tech was the only college in the area to offer the program.
