Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)
Durham Tech, in cooperation with the NC Community College System, the Durham and Regional Partnership Workforce Development Boards, and the Durham and Orange County JobLink Centers, offers the North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
News: 60 for 60: RSVP at Durham Tech provided senior residents tax services, volunteer opportunities
In 1976, Durham Technical Institute and ACTION, a federal agency, partnered to launch the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at Durham Tech. Prior to offering this service at the College, the Volunteer Center of Greater Durham hosted the program.  

RSVP provided senior residents, identified as those over the age of 55, with opportunities to volunteer in different capacities within the community.  

Durham Tech locally sponsored the program by matching personal interests and skills of volunteers with opportunities to serve.

Durham Technical Community College will be the first in North Carolina to participate in a project based at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to better prepare early childhood education professionals across the state.
News: Unsolved death leads Durham Tech alumna down path to criminal justice
Toni Rigsbee’s uncle was just 20 years old when he was murdered.
His killer was never found.
“Our family never got resolution, and the case went cold,” said Rigsbee, 42. “I always knew I wanted to become an investigator so I could help families of victims get closure and justice.”
Rigsbee’s pathway to criminal justice made a sharp right turn during high school when she found out she was pregnant and ultimately decided to drop out.

News: Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation awards Durham Tech $200,000 grant to expand College’s food pantries
At its recent “Thanks-A-Billion" tour stop in Wake Forest to celebrate reaching its milestone of 1.5 billion meals donated by 2025, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation announced a $200,000 capital grant for the expansion of Durham Tech’s Main Campus and satellite food pantries.
Building Safety Captains
Most buildings at Durham Tech are currently assigned a Building Safety Captain. These individuals are your colleagues who are trained to ensure the safety of their assigned buildings’ occupants. Building Safety Captains are trained to effectively assess situations and provide safety instruction and assistance to employees, students, and visitors.
Civil Leave
Policies and Procedures Manual: Civil leave with pay is granted to any full-time Durham Tech employee summoned by a judge to appear in court as a juror or witness.
Intellectual Property
Policies and Procedures Manual: Durham Technical Community College retains sole ownership of any intellectual property created by a covered individual when the intellectual property is part of the covered individual’s scope of employment or contracted work at the college and when significant college resources have been allocated or used to create the work.
