New Books and a New Movie
We are pleased to add the Oscar nominated and Golden Globe winning film Boyhood. The film follows a boy named Mason and his family as he experiences the pleasure and pain of growing up. Notable for being filmed with the same cast over a 12 year period, we can watch as the actors themselves grow with the roles they play. [caption id="attachment_1153" align="aligncenter" width="209"] Boyhood[/caption] Also, this month we have a great crop of new books for your reading pleasure. [gallery type=

It organizes these resources into themed exhibitions (such as Women with Wings: American Aviatrixes), a map and a timeline. Content comes into the DPLA from a variety of libraries, museums, archives and other cultural institutions. Many of the resources are old photographs or scans of letters that are not subject to

March 2 - 6, 2020 Is Open Education Week
Happy Open Education Week 2020! Open Education is a movement that promotes using free educational tools--such as textbooks--that instructors have the right to retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. These five permissions are known as "The 5 Rs" of Open Educational Resources (OER). Be on the lookout for more posts about Open Education this week. Today, we will start with an overview of what makes a resource "open." What do the 5 Rs mean? Why are the 5 Rs important? There is no financial

Read Great Things 2019: Personal Goals!
For many, January is a time to mindfully start new habits, either just as a new year reset (hello, dry-anuary participants and all of you doing Whole 30 for your very last day today!) or as the start of a new, hopefully enduring habit. The library surveyed Durham Tech faculty and staff and asked them to anonymously share their goals for 2019. Have similar goals? Why not use the Read Great Things Challenge to help you reach those goals by reading a book to expand your knowledge, and also check
How are you sitting?
Here in the library we spend a lot of time on our computers, as do our students. It's easy to start to slump and forget that spending so much time sitting still is hard on our bodies. Here are a couple resources to help us all stay on track, and prevent aches and pains later on. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has a handy guide to how to properly sit at your desk, as well as how to arrange your chairs and keyboards for maximum benefit. The American Chiropractic Association has
