News: Durham Tech director receives Sister Cities of Durham/Mayor's Award for Promoting International Understanding
Heidi White, Director of International Student Services and Study Abroad at Durham Tech, will receive the Sister Cities of Durham/Mayor’s Award for Promoting International Understanding during a virtual ceremony on November 6.
News: 60 for 60: Opening the Northern Durham Center, first expansion of Durham Tech
In the late 1980s, Durham Tech was growing on all fronts and bursting at the seams for classroom space. 

Leadership at the College knew it was time to expand, and in 1989, 27 acres of land were purchased on Snow Hill Road to construct the Northern Durham Center (NDC). 

In a message to the campus community in 1989, then-President Phail Wynn Jr. announced the project. 

“The northern campus will be built in five phases over a period of ten to fifteen years. The first of these phases includes a 30,000-square-foot, multipurpose building,” Wynn said.

News: Three former students inspire at Convocation 
In August, Durham Tech celebrated Convocation to kick off the new school year, find out what's in store for the College and reunite with colleagues. This year at Durham Tech, Convocation also provided faculty and staff the opportunity to hear firsthand the difference their work has made in the lives of students, with three alumni sharing their experiences. 
News: Mayor O'Neal and Congresswoman Foushee join Durham Tech for annual MLK celebration
Durham Technical Community College hosted their 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Friday to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King. 

Durham’s first African American female mayor, Elaine O’Neal, and 4th District Congresswoman, Valerie Foushee joined Durham Tech’s faculty and staff for the event on Durham Tech’s Main Campus.  

The event included selections from Durham Tech’s MLK Choir, presentations from the 2023 I Have a Dream Essay Award winners, and reflections on Dr. King’s life and impact. 
News: Durham Tech launches new free mental health resource for students
Durham Technical Community College has launched a new comprehensive counseling support service at the College that provides students with free behavioral and mental health resources.

Durham Tech is partnering with Campus Christie Health to provide around-the-clock support for students as a part of a new Be Well at Durham Tech service.

Be Well at Durham Tech provides students with a 24/7 free mental health support line with licensed counselors as well as free telehealth or off campus face-to-face counseling sessions.

Former Durham Technical Community College President Phail Wynn, Jr., a titan of higher education in Durham and a lifelong advocate of the city, died suddenly of natural causes at his home Tuesday. He was 70.
