News: NCCU, Durham Tech announce guaranteed admission partnership to benefit transfer students
Durham Technical Community College and N.C. Central University announced Tuesday, Nov. 28, details of their Eagle Connect guaranteed admission program to enhance their transfer partnership and provide more supports for student success. The new guaranteed admission partnership is designed to make transferring more seamless for students who earn their associate degree from Durham Tech, then transfer to N.C. Central to complete their bachelor’s degree.
News: Grafton receives Daryl Mitchell Award for Outstanding Students
Charmaine Grafton, current Durham Tech student and president of the Student Government Association, received the Daryl Mitchell Award for Outstanding Students last weekend at the North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association Spring Conference (N4CSGA).
News: Durham Tech among 16 colleges selected nationwide to pilot program to improve economic outcomes 
Achieving the Dream has announced its inaugural national cohort of 16 colleges, including Durham Tech, for a national pilot program that will improve outcomes on their campuses and in their communities by enhancing economic opportunity, reducing poverty, and engaging with underserved populations. 
News: Durham Tech student accepted into Women and Minority Engineering Research Program at NC State
Rodriguez, 28, was accepted into the Women and Minority Engineering Research Program at North Carolina State University.

The 10-week summer program requires students to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, and provides a high quality research experience along with mentoring support. The program begins May 24 and includes a $5,000 stipend.
News: Durham Tech receives $5,000 for new 3D printer for Dental Laboratory Technology program
The Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology awarded the Durham Technical Community College Foundation $5,000 to purchase a 3D printer for the college’s Dental Laboratory Technology program.
News: 60 for 60: Durham Tech/GlaxoWellcome Technology Center opens on Main Campus in 1997
In November 1997, Main Campus grew by one more building.

The Durham Tech/GlaxoWellcome Technology Center opened its doors to serve students in healthcare programs. That same year, the Durham Tech Foundation received its largest gift of $500,000 from GlaxoSmithKline to outfit the building with equipment needed for programs. 
News: Durham Tech, U.S. Rep. Foushee announce $620,000 in federal funds for affordable housing initiative
Durham Tech Community College announced Wednesday, Oct. 2, that it is moving forward with plans to provide affordable housing for its students and the greater community after securing a key piece of funding from the federal government with the assistance of U.S Rep. Valerie Foushee.

News: Early Childhood Education program honors apprentices and hears from graduates of the program
Durham Tech’s Early Childhood Education program recently honored students participating in apprenticeships at a signing ceremony, where 16 apprenticeships were signed. Speakers included Durham Tech instructors as well as students of the program. The ceremony started with a quote about how the love of children is placed first in the program’s plan.

“There is certainly no greater love than what we show our children,” said Durham Tech Director of Work-based Education and Apprenticeship Dr. Micara Lewis-Sessoms, a former early childhood educator and “proud product of Head Start.”
