News: Commencement keynote speaker: Believe in yourself, believe in your path
Editor's note: The following is the transcript of Durham Tech alumna Luzita Francis' keynote address for the College's 2024 Commencement.

Thank you President Buxton for inviting me here today, and to you all, esteemed faculty, proud parents, maybe even proud children, supporters, all those who made this accomplishment possible. Most importantly, I want to thank the Durham Tech graduating Class of 2024. You’ve earned my congratulations, and my gratitude. As Kurt Vonnegut said in one of his many commencement speeches: “By becoming informed and reasonable and capable adults, you have made this a better world than it was before you got here.” I thank you for doing so and am honored and humbled to address you and celebrate with you today.
Environmental Scientist
Environmental Scientist provide scientific or technical guidance, support, coordination, or oversight to governmental agencies, environmental programs, industry, or the public.
Political Science
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Political Science at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree.
Public Health Science
Students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in Public Health Science should complete the Associate in Arts (AS) degree which will transfer to all UNC System schools, most North Carolina independent colleges and universities, and most out of state institutions.

Durham Technical Community College is committed to balance safety, accessibility, and equity as it continues to reopen services and teach classes this fall, the College said in its 2020 Fall Guidelines: Phase 2.1 Transition Plan released Friday.
News: DPS, Durham Tech announce partnership to ensure 1 in 4 DPS students graduate with associate degree or workforce credential 
Durham Public Schools and Durham Tech announced a major new partnership with the goal of ensuring that 25 percent of Durham Public Schools students will complete a Durham Tech workforce credential or associate degree by the time they graduate high school. DPS and Durham Tech have committed to putting in place key strategies and supports to ensure that at least 500 students each year are graduating graduate with an associate degree in addition to their high school diploma, or a credential that will enable them to enter the workforce immediately. This goal is unparalleled in the state. 
Art and Design
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate fine arts degree (BFA or BAFA) at a four-year college or university should enroll in the Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degree program.
Middle Grades Education: Social Science
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Middle Grades Education: Social Science at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree.
Additional Healthcare (Continuing Education)
In addition to the many Continuing Education health and wellness programs offered at Durham Tech, we offer short courses that provide an introduction into the health care field, add new career skills, or help prepare students for certification exams.
Carpentry (Continuing Education)
The Construction Certificate in Carpentry has been crafted to provide aspiring carpenters with a solid foundation for a successful career in the construction trades.
