Durham Technical Community College will close later this month on property adjacent to Main Campus as a part of the College’s expansion. The Durham Tech Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 1551 Cooper Street at a June 16 meeting. The deal is expected to close July 15.
A partnership among Durham Technical Community College, Duke Health and Durham Public Schools has been awarded a transformative $29.5 million grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to establish an early college for high school students interested in pursuing health care careers upon graduation.
The grant is one of 10 awarded nationally through Bloomberg Philanthropies’ “Student-centered, Market-driven Healthcare Education Initiative.” The initiative’s goal is to address critical health care workforce needs while preparing young adults for successful careers in the field.

Durham Technical Community College is the first Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) education program in the nation to receive its voluntary accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the only nationally recognized accreditation organization for AEMT and paramedic education. In addition, Durham Tech’s Paramedic Program also received accreditation, marking dual accreditation for the College’s EMS pathway.
Created by the North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents in 2004, the Governor Robert Scott Leadership Award recognizes leadership by a curriculum student on a statewide level.
