English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a program designed to help students improve their skills in U.S. Academic English. Students entering this program already have the basics of English (or speak another variety of English), but need to improve their skills as it relates to college-level reading, writing, research, grammar, listening, and speaking.

News: 60 for 60: Durham Tech partners with Sister Cities of Durham to provide cultural immersion program
Durham Tech’s ties with Sister Cities of Durham began under the leadership of former president Phail Wynn, Jr., who also served as the Board President of Sister Cities – an organization whose mission is to promote world peace by mutual cooperation and respect between international people.

Sister Cities of Durham is an affiliate of Sister Cities International, a nonprofit organization that coordinates exchange visits between partnering countries, including Tanzania, Arusha; Celaya, Mexico; Durham, England; Kavala, Greece; Kostroma, Russia; Sibu, Romania; Tilaran, Costa Rica; Toyama, Japan; and Zhuzhou, China.

News: Durham Tech partners with Corning to offer paid internships, tuition assistance, full-time employment through Technician Pipeline Program
Durham Tech and Corning Incorporated have partnered to offer eligible students an opportunity to participate in their Technician Pipeline Program (TPP) – a two-year paid internship that offers tuition assistance and job placement at Corning upon completion.

Corning is a worldwide leading innovator in materials science and operates a life sciences and pharmaceutical technologies location in Durham. The TPP program was introduced in 2008 to optimize partnership opportunities between scientists and technicians in Corning’s Technology Community and increase the number of under-represented minorities and women in technician roles by establishing a comprehensive, fully customized talent pipeline.
News: Durham Tech’s Paralegal Technology program receives transformational gift
Made possible by the bequest of the late Beulah T. Latta, the Paralegal Technology program has received a transformational gift that includes scholarships for students, a law simulation lab, and funding to upfit classroom space into a mock courtroom. This represents the single largest commitment the program has received in its history. The scholarships will enable the program to actively recruit new students and support current students. The addition of a law simulation lab and a mock courtroom elevates the program’s commitment and ability to deliver experiential learning experiences.

News: Durham Tech’s Dr. Angela Davis selected for prestigious Aspen Institute Rising Presidents Fellowship
The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program announced April 17 that Dr. Angela Davis, Vice President and Chief Talent and Equity Officer at Durham Technical Community College, is one of 40 leaders selected for the 2024-25 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship.

The Aspen fellowship aims to select and prepare the next generation of presidents who can lead institutions to higher and more equitable levels of student success.
