Kathryn Oliva, a Honduras native and Durham Tech graduate, was 17 when she came to the United States. She started taking classes at Durham Tech within a year of her arrival.
“Durham Tech has a special place in my heart. From the beginning I had classmates from other countries. That was amazing to me,” Oliva said. “I got to know about other countries, even with never having visited them. I got to meet other non-English speaking students with good hearts that I never would have met if I hadn’t been at Durham Tech. Many of us still talk and go out. My Durham Tech time was such a good thing for me.”

The Gamers Club is for current students of Durham Tech who enjoy any form of gaming such as card games, video games, and board games.
Insurance prelicensing courses prepare students to learn general terms and concepts associated with Life, Accident and Health/Sickness, and Medicare Supplement/Long-Term Care; policy provisions; options and various features; and NC statutes and regulations.

Continuing Education human resources courses prepare students for leadership roles in Human Resources departments that manage the personnel of a small business, corporation, or organization.
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Architecture at UNC-Charlotte would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree or the AAS in Architectural Technology degree to transfer into the UNC Greensboro’s 2+ program for Interior Architecture.
