Durham Tech sent its six-person high-altitude balloon team to compete in the statewide competition in March in Catawba. The 10 teams competing launched their high-altitude balloons (HABs) filled with a payload of one required experiment and three additional experiments. The balloons reach an altitude of 20 miles above Earth and must be strong enough to carry the payload and all the components of the experiments.
Durham Tech’s Phlebotomy program received good news in 2024.
First, the program received accreditation from the American Society Phlebotomy Technicians in July. Then, the first class of Phlebotomy students to go through the program after it received accreditation all successfully passed the national phlebotomy certification test in mid-December and are now certified ASPT phlebotomist.

Scholarships are a critical part of Durham Technical Community College’s overall strategy for student success. Many of the earliest gifts to the Durham Tech Foundation were designated for a general scholarship fund, with named scholarship funds following soon after. The first endowed scholarship at Durham Tech was established in 1988 by O’Brien Atkins Associates, PA for students enrolled in the Architectural Drafting program. Since then, 91 scholarships have been created — split evenly between endowed and annual awards.
U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh joined Vice President Kamala Harris visit to Durham Technical Community College on Wednesday and highlighted the work of the College and the plans of the Biden Administration to grow and diversify registered apprenticeships.

Middle School Teachers prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Statistics at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Science (AS) degree.
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Architecture at UNC-Charlotte would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree or the AAS in Architectural Technology degree to transfer into the UNC Greensboro’s 2+ program for Interior Architecture.
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate science degree at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Science (AS) degree. Curriculum courses focus on courses such as biology, chemistry, engineering, geology, mathematics, or physics.
