News: Durham Tech hosts 2019 Annual Student Conduct Symposium with focus on equity
Nearly 150 leaders and representatives from 36 North Carolina community colleges gathered on the Durham Tech Main Campus on November 21 for the 2019 Annual Student Conduct Symposium. The event was sponsored by the North Carolina Community College System.

News: Chris Mansfield named new Dean of Science and Mathematics
Durham Technical Community College announced last week that Chris Mansfield has been chosen as the new Dean of Science and Mathematics. 

Mansfield began his role at Durham Tech in 2003 as a Math instructor and was promoted to Chair of the Mathematics, Engineering, and Physics department in 2012. 
News: Durham Tech graduates more than 350 during 60th commencement celebration
​​​​​​​Hundreds of families, friends, Durham Tech employees, and alumni walked into the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP) Wednesday evening and filled the seats to attend Durham Tech’s 60th commencement to celebrate the graduating class of 2022. 

More than 350 crossed the stage and received their degree or diploma during the ceremony Wednesday. 

Ibrahim Cissé, 2021 MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow and 2002 Durham Tech alumnus, gave an inspiring commencement speech that spoke to the education and preparation he received at Durham Tech prior to his award-winning career.

Postell has been an art instructor at Durham Tech for 13 years, but this is the first time he’s ever taught online.
News: Durham Tech, Novo Nordisk celebrate apprenticeship signings
Leading global healthcare company Novo Nordisk held an apprenticeship signing for two Durham Tech students who are joining the company for a year. The apprenticeship program is part of the partnership the College, Novo Nordisk and ApprenticeshipNC launched in January 2023 to support and grow the talent pipeline in life sciences fields.
News: North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation awards Durham Tech $50,000 to support the Phail Wynn library collection
The North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation has awarded $50,000 to the Durham Technical Community College Foundation to create the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Library Endowment. Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. served as president of Durham Tech for 27 years. Upon his retirement in 2007, he established The Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Collection at the Durham Tech library on the Main Campus.

News: 60 for 60: At ‘Hill Day,’ Occupational Therapy Assistant students advocate for OTA issues in Washington, D.C.
Every September, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) hosts Hill Day as an opportunity for thousands of Occupational Therapy students from across the country to travel to Washington, D.C., and voice their advocacy for occupational therapy.

Hill Day began in 1999, and about 10 years ago, Durham Tech’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students began to participate.

All second-year students are welcome to attend Hill Day as a chance to complete their advocacy assignment required for OTA 245 Professional Skills III.
