College Assessment

Durham Tech started its strategic planning process in fall 2020 by asking the Aspen Institute, Achieving the Dream, and the Belk Center (“the Collaborative”) to conduct an assessment of the College. From the assessment, we wanted to learn where we have succeeded and where we have fallen short in our efforts to close equity gaps and improve student success outcomes.

The Collaborative summarized its findings and made its recommendations in a report, Accelerating Student Success and Community Prosperity: Durham Tech at the Crossroads. Please contact strategicplan@durhamtech.edu to request a copy of the report.

Strategic Planning Process

The Strategic Planning Committee’s charge is to ensure that the strategic plan is:

  • Rooted within a relevant mission, aspirational vision, and appropriate core values for guiding decision-making;
  • Responsive to the framework, identified within the Collaborative’s assessment, by engaging the College in the development of measurable goals and strategic initiatives;
  • Advancing the College’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that our action plan is integrated within the strategic goals and initiatives; and
  • Instrumental in developing an equity-minded educational ecosystem (K-12, community partners, economic development) that supports sustainable, livable wages and economic mobility opportunities.

Durham Tech employees are invited to participate in six Town Hall meetings; recordings will be posted as they are available (see below). The Committee will also be sending out regular email up-dates, posting to this blog, and keeping the SharePoint channel updated with important documents.

The Strategic Planning Committee cannot do this work alone. We invite all of you to take part in not only drawing the map but also building the roads to where we want to go.
