How to Become a Visiting Student
Visiting students come from another college to take transferable courses at Durham Tech with the goal of transferring those credits back to their home institution.
Students who need one or two courses before enrolling in graduate or professional school should look at the Durham Tech Post-Bachelor's Degree Courses.
For students who first language is not US English, the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program can help you improve your higher-level English skills necessary for you to succeed in your coursework.

Academic advising at Durham Tech is the key to college success. Advisors help students determine their interests, explore career options, set academic goals, select courses, answer questions about their program of study, and ensure they’re ready for registration. Students must meet with an advisor every semester before registering for courses.
Some programs may waive placement testing if the applicant has previously completed college-level math or English courses. View the Transcript Evaluation web page.
- 4. Register and Pay for Courses
Register and pay for courses in Self-Service.
View information about enrollment due dates. If you are unable to submit your official transcript by the enrollment due date, you will miss early registration.
Note: Visiting students are not eligible for course substitution, credit by examination, financial aid, or veteran’s benefits. They do not qualify for academic recognition (President’s List or Dean’s List). Documentation of prior course work or testing is required to enroll in courses with prerequisites.
