Medical records specialists compile, process, and maintain these records in accordance with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. They review the documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the aforementioned regulations, and ask doctors questions about the records when needed.

The Medical Administrative Assistant and Medical Coding Continuing Education programs at Durham Tech covers how to process, analyze, abstract, compile, maintain, manage, and report health information. Graduates are eligible to work in hospitals, rehab facilities, long-term care facilities, health insurance organizations, outpatient clinics, mental health facilities, and home health organizations.
