It was Durham Tech’s 50th anniversary and former president Dr. Bill Ingram called for a “Year of Service” to celebrate – encouraging students and employees to participate in volunteer opportunities and service learning.
To kick off the year, the Durham Tech Student Senate, now Student Government Association, distributed 50 bags of food to students during the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Event.
All 50 bags were gone in 10 minutes.

On Sept 19, 2023, Durham Technical Community College launched its President’s Emerging Leaders Institute, which will identify and develop emerging leaders for growth and advancement within the College now and in the future. Twelve employees were selected to participate in the advanced, yearlong program, which is funded by the College’s Foundation.

The Mindful Haven (Mindfulness) Club aims to promote mental well-being, stress relief, and emotional awareness through the regular practice of meditation, mindfulness, and related activities. Policies and Procedures Manual: Campus Police and Public Safety provides 24-hour-a-day patrol protection for college buildings, grounds, and parking lots. It responds to crime reports, fires, medical emergencies, traffic accidents, and other incidents requiring police or security assistance. The office is located on main campus in Building 8.
