He has a student in mind.
It’s a routine visit for Smith, a Durham native, who goes out of his way to help his students secure jobs.
News: Fidelity Scholar: Program gives diverse types of support, helps him be well-rounded
Durham Tech student Juan-Pablo Quintanilla Ha began his interest in the Fidelity Scholars program during high school, when a guidance counselor shared information on the program.

“After learning about the Fidelity program from a high school counselor of mine, I researched the program and found I was a fit because of my Latino-Asian descent, but also because of my academic excellence and it helped that I am a go-getter,” said Ha, who was one of the Durham Tech students selected for the program. “I was then all about the program and how it could help me get a college education.”

Ha saw Fidelity’s program as a way to receive money for college, but quickly learned it was much more.
Enrollment Steps for High School Seniors
High school seniors who have not yet graduated receive provisional acceptance to the college once they have completed the enrollment application and residency determination. View enrollment steps.
News: Durham Tech students transform courtyard for children with autism at Raleigh elementary school
Four students in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Durham Tech spent six weeks transforming a courtyard for children with autism, which is used for play and socialization.
Industrial Technology
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree. Students in this program develop foundational knowledge particularly in business, English, fine arts, foreign languages, history, philosophy, psychology, or sociology.
