The Durham County commissioners approved its 2025-26 budget this week, demonstrating once again their commitment to public higher education in Durham. The budget continues their support for the College’s Back to Work short-term workforce development scholarships, BULLS Life Sciences program, Durham Tech Promise scholarships, and apprenticeship opportunities. Our commissioners also provided an overall budget increase to address rising operational costs as well as funding county salary increases in line with estimated state budget salary increases.
Durham Technical Community College announced Tuesday the hiring of Roxanne Miller as the incoming Vice President and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer who will lead the Durham Tech Foundation. Miller currently serves as the Senior Director of Development at the Wake Tech Foundation.

The Durham Tech Foundation provides opportunities for investments from the community to assist the College in meeting its most critical institutional and instructional needs. The Foundation engages with corporate, foundation, and individual donors to directly impact student success, employee development, program and facility enhancements, and other advancement needs.

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program announced Wednesday, April 5, that Durham Technical Community College Vice President and Chief Campus Operations Officer Dr. Susan Bowen is one of 35 leaders selected for the 2023-24 class of the Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship. For the seventh consecutive year, Durham Technical Community College has partnered with Sister Cities of Durham to host students from the Sister City of Toyama, Japan – nearly 200 miles northwest of Tokyo – for an English immersion program, which is housed at the Durham Tech Small Business and Corporate Education Center.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a program designed to help students improve their skills in U.S. Academic English. Students entering this program already have the basics of English (or speak another variety of English), but need to improve their skills as it relates to college-level reading, writing, research, grammar, listening, and speaking.
