News: Occupational Therapy Assistant student takes first place in statewide competition for adaptive equipment
Virginia Barnes, an Occupational Therapy Assistant student at Durham Tech, was awarded first place in the 2021 North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association’s Assistive Technology/Adaptive Equipment Competition earlier this month.

News: Durham Tech and Wake Tech partner to launch RTP Bio, a biotechnology training and talent collaboration
Durham Technical Community College and Wake Technical Community College announced the launch of RTP Bio, a new workforce development collaboration that unites biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and biopharmaceutical talent pipelines of the two community colleges in the Research Triangle Park region.

Durham Tech and Wake Tech serve the fifth largest biotechnology hub in the United States, with Research Triangle Park located in both college’s service regions. The location and expansion of life science and biopharma industries have significantly accelerated employment demands. In 2020, more than 11,000 biotechnology jobs were created in the Research Triangle.

Current offerings at Wake Tech include degrees in Biopharmaceutical Technology and Biotechnology and continuing education through the BioWork credential. Durham Tech offers degrees in Clinical Trials Research, Biomedical Equipment Technology and continuing education through the BioWork credential. Durham Tech also plans to add new degrees in biotechnology-related programs in the coming year.

News: Seven Durham Tech Students to Attend NC State on Prestigious Goodnight Scholarships
Seven Durham Tech students will be attending NC State beginning this fall on Goodnight Scholarships, valued at $23,000 per year for up to three years for transfer students from low- and middle-income families in North Carolina who are studying in a STEM or STEM-education field.  
News: Durham Tech launches mobile health lab with $1 million grant from Blue Cross NC
Durham Technical Community College and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) have launched a new mobile health lab as a part of a $1 million grant to the College, which will allow students and supervising practitioners to travel where care is most needed.

Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated systems and machinery.
Cosmetology (Continuing Education)
The Cosmetology Continuing Education course prepares students with skills such as hair and scalp treatments, haircutting, hairstyling, skin care, manicuring, pedicuring, and hair coloring.
Credit By Examination
The special grade of Credit by Examination (CE) is awarded when a student has applied for and successfully completed the requirements for credit by examination. Qualified curriculum students with relevant prior training or experience may earn academic credit for certain courses by examination.
