Credit by Examination
Credit by Examination (CE) allows eligible students with relevant training or experience to earn academic credit for certain courses by applying for and passing an approved exam.

Information Technology
Credit by Examination (CE) is currently available for CIS-110, CTI-110, and WEB-110.
Eligibility and Requirements
To be eligible for Credit by Examination (CE), students must:
- Be enrolled in a curriculum program
- Register for the course they wish to test out of
- Have their application approved within the first 7 days of the semester
- Complete their exam within the first 14 days of the semester
Exams are only taken once, and students who do not pass must complete the course for credit. An exam score of 85% is required to earn credit (some courses may require a higher score).
Students cannot earn more than 10% of the total required credit hours for their program through Credit by Examination (CE), unless otherwise approved by the Chief Academic Officer under special circumstances.
Limitations
Students should not apply for Credit by Examination (CE) if they are:
- Completing a University Transfer Degree program (AA, AATP, AS, ASTP, AE, AFA, AGE, or AGE-N)
- Veterans enrolled in a course they are not attending (these hours are not eligible for veteran benefits and may reduce or eliminate benefits)
- Dual Enrollment (CCP) students (CE is not permitted for high school students)
