Community Health Worker (Continuing Education)
This course is designed to provide individuals with the required knowledge, tools, and resources to become recognized as a certified Community Health Worker (CHW) in North Carolina working in a variety of healthcare and community settings (Health Departments, Hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Clinics, Faith-based Organizations, etc.).
News: Durham Tech director receives 2019 Roy N. Anderson Award
Dr. Christy Walker, Director of Career Services at Durham Tech, received the Roy N. Anderson Award at the North Carolina Career Development Association annual conference on October 11 at Meredith College.
News: Facility Services to get new home
Facility Services will pack up their operations and relocate down the street to its new home this December.
The department is currently found in Building 7 on Bacon Street on the Main Campus. Its new building is nearing completion off Cooper Street behind the George W. Newton Industrial & Engineering Technologies Center (Building 4).
Optical Apprentice Certificate
The Optical Apprentice certificate curriculum includes the competencies necessary to analyze and interpret prescriptions and to accurately fit and dispense eyewear and contact lenses.

Local filmmaker Dr. Diane Bloom visited Durham Tech on Oct. 24 to discuss and screen her 2002 documentary “An Unlikely Friendship,” which captures the famous Durham story of black civil rights activist Ann Atwater and KKK leader Claiborne Paul “C.P.” Ellis.
News: Durham Tech Early Childhood program adds new fast-track option
Students will now be able to earn their early childhood education associate’s degree in less time through a new fast-track pathway at Durham Technical Community College.
While in the pilot program, students will also receive stipends thanks to a $17,500 grant from the PNC Foundation.
Restorative Dental Technology - Fixed Prosthodontics Beginning Certificate
The Fixed Prosthodontics Beginning Certificate is comprised of four courses. Upon completion, students should be able to fabricate advanced fixed restorations.
