Policies and Procedures Manual: Durham Technical Community College selects individuals for employment or promotion on the basis of training, experience, and other characteristics which best suit the individual to the job and best meet the needs of the institution. The Associate in Engineering (AE) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate engineering degree within four years. AE curriculum courses focus on engineering but the degree also includes general education offerings that emphasize the development of analytical skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science.

Erin Popov, Dental Laboratory Technology (DLT) Program Director/Instructor at Durham Technical Community College, received the 2023 National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) Educator of the Year award on January 20.
“I am humbled to have been nominated and so grateful for being selected,” said Popov. “Teaching takes a lot of heart and hard work and so many other educators are as equally deserving.”
The NADL Educator of the Year award recognizes one educator annually who has made outstanding contributions to NADL and the dental laboratory profession. An industry member nominated Popov, and she was announced the winner at the awards reception held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. Tracy Mancini, who previously served as the Dean of Arts, Sciences, and University Transfer at Durham Technical Community College, has been named the next president of Carteret Community College in Morehead City, North Carolina.
The Public Safety Administration Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree curriculum is designed to provide students, as well as practitioners, with knowledge and skills in the technical, managerial, and administrative areas necessary for entrance or advancement within various public safety and government organizations.
Heidi White, Director of International Student Services and Study Abroad at Durham Tech, will receive the Sister Cities of Durham/Mayor’s Award for Promoting International Understanding during a virtual ceremony on November 6.
Support scholarships for students may be funded through donations of $1,000 or more annually. Permanently endowed scholarships may be created at the $25,000+ level to support an award in perpetuity.
This program provides introductory training for those entering the field of mental health services or as a refresher for those currently working within the mental health or behavioral health field.
