Durham Technical Community College has surpassed the $100,000 SunTrust Foundation matching challenge to grow the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. SunTrust Foundation Scholarship Endowment with significant contributions from community members and college partners.
Two Durham Technical Community College teams took first place in the Rube Goldberg Engineering Competition on April 21 hosted by Wake Technical Community College, the team’s best finish ever at the competition.

Durham Technical Community College and N.C. Central University announced Tuesday, Nov. 28, details of their Eagle Connect guaranteed admission program to enhance their transfer partnership and provide more supports for student success. The new guaranteed admission partnership is designed to make transferring more seamless for students who earn their associate degree from Durham Tech, then transfer to N.C. Central to complete their bachelor’s degree.
Erin Popov, Dental Laboratory Technology (DLT) Program Director/Instructor at Durham Technical Community College, received the 2023 National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) Educator of the Year award on January 20.
“I am humbled to have been nominated and so grateful for being selected,” said Popov. “Teaching takes a lot of heart and hard work and so many other educators are as equally deserving.”
The NADL Educator of the Year award recognizes one educator annually who has made outstanding contributions to NADL and the dental laboratory profession. An industry member nominated Popov, and she was announced the winner at the awards reception held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

When the Durham Technical Community College Foundation was established in 1984, its first priority was to raise funds to support students. In those early years, this effort was focused on securing sources of funding for scholarships. In 1991, the Foundation began hosting what has become a signature event: the Annual Scholarship Breakfast.
