RTI International has granted the Durham Technical Community College Foundation $50,000 to establish a scholarship endowment fund for Early Childhood Education students.
Formerly known as Basic Skills, the Durham Tech College and Career Readiness programs focus on developing basic reading, writing, and math skills to allow students to obtain a high school credential.
“I think I’m more ambitious today because I see what I have been able to do through Durham Tech,” Conc said. “It’s such a good environment to figure out what you really want to do. When I came to the States, I never thought I’d make it this far. When I was in Austria, I never really thought I could go to America, but, when it happened I thought, ‘Wow, I did it.’”
Policies and Procedures Manual: In accordance with NCGS § 115D-21.1, the Campus Police and Public Safety Department serves as Durham Technical Community College’s law enforcement agency to employ personnel with all of the general powers of law enforcement officers.

On Jan. 12, the Durham Tech Choir, under the direction of Dr. Norman Collins, brought the house down at Durham Tech’s 39th annual MLK celebration. As pharmaceutical companies around the world scrambled to develop a vaccine, local companies started calling Durham Tech more than ever before.
They needed skilled workers in their labs, and fast.
Telicia Hunter, then-Curriculum Developer for Biotechnology courses at Durham Tech, said it was a challenge, but she was up for it.
“All of a sudden, all eyes were on biotechnology – the College president, Durham and Orange Counties, the Back-to-Work Initiative, the BULLS Initiative. Covid brought a lot of awareness into our industry and companies were reaching out to us needing people trained and ready to work,” she said.

Policies and Procedure Manual: Durham Tech operates on a modified schedule during the summer. Public access to College offices is limited to the hours listed for the current Summer Term in the HelpHub section of the College’s website.
One-on-one tutoring offers an individualized approach to develop the language skills of non-native speaker students.
Durham Tech President J.B. Buxton thanked Durham voters for their support Tuesday night following the overwhelming support and passage of the 2022 Durham County bond referendum for Durham Tech. The $112.7 million bond will fund new facilities in healthcare and life sciences that put more Durham residents in high paying careers.
