Durham Tech is launching its Do Great in Eight initiative, which is designed to improve students’ success.
In Fall 2024 the College will begin offering two-thirds of its courses in eight-week formats instead of a 16-week semester. Eight-week courses are offered in two consecutive terms during the Fall and Spring semesters. In-person, online, hybrid, and blended formats will be available.

Durham Tech students have opportunities inside and outside the classroom to grow professionally and engage in hands-on learning experiences. Work-Based Learning (WBL) at Durham Tech pairs students with an employer in their area of study for a work experience designed to prepare them for a successful career.
The Public Safety Administration Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree curriculum is designed to provide students, as well as practitioners, with knowledge and skills in the technical, managerial, and administrative areas necessary for entrance or advancement within various public safety and government organizations.
These Continuing Education courses introduce students to software and web development concepts and prepares students for entry-level Microsoft certification.
When the Durham Technical Community College Foundation was established in 1984, its first priority was to raise funds to support students. In those early years, this effort was focused on securing sources of funding for scholarships. In 1991, the Foundation began hosting what has become a signature event: the Annual Scholarship Breakfast.
The Construction Certificate in Carpentry has been crafted to provide aspiring carpenters with a solid foundation for a successful career in the construction trades.

Durham Technical Community College and Kate’s Korner Education Services are partnering to provide free part-time childcare services and after-school care on the College’s main campus this spring.
Drop-in services will be offered to 60 children beginning January 31 through June. The program focuses on access and affordability while delivering a high-quality project-based curriculum.
The drop-in services will allow children to attend the morning or afternoon program five days a week. This allows students who attend Durham Tech the opportunity to complete class requirements and study without the worry of care for their children.

The High School Equivalency diploma is the certified equivalent of a traditional high school diploma. Students may take courses to prepare for the tests in a traditional classroom setting or online. In some settings, The equivalency test is free for Durham and Orange county residents.
