The IT Service and Support Associate in Applied Science (AAS) program curriculum prepares students to support computer hardware and software; provide user instruction or training; and implement procedures for system maintenance.
Students can earn their Drivetrain Certificate in two semesters. Coursework covers operation, diagnosis, and repair of manual transmissions/transaxles, clutches, driveshafts, axles, and final drives.
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) curriculum prepares students to design and develop software solutions based on user needs and requirements; create, modify, and test code and computer applications; develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve data and information; and design, implement, and administer computer databases.
Ophthalmic lab technicians cut, grind, and polish precision optical elements such as contact and eyeglass lenses.
Durham Tech graduate Kilie Fetzer has been named the 2025 ApprenticeshipNC Outstanding Registered Apprentice after finding her passion while working as a receptionist at a surgeon’s office, where she learned about surgical tech careers.
“One of the amazing surgeons knew my frustrations of wanting to go back to school to further my education but having no idea what I wanted to do,” Fetzer said. “He offered to let me shadow him in the operating room to observe and see if anything sparked my interest. That’s when I learned what a surgical technologist is.”

Students can broaden their worldview by taking Continuing Education courses in Spanish, French, German, and American Sign Language at Durham Tech.
Individuals who have completed a baccalaureate or graduate degree in biological science, chemistry, or an allied health area, or who have completed one year of employment in the clinical research field within the last five years, are eligible to enroll in the Clinical Research Core Competencies certificate program.

Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Communication Studies at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree.
