In January 2023, leading global healthcare company Novo Nordisk donated $6 million to Durham Tech, the largest corporate gift in the College’s history. The construction and real estate downturn in 2009 propelled Durham Tech alumna Felicity “Fizzy” Little to look for a new, recession-proof career. She decided on law.
“Durham Tech was the only school offering a qualified Paralegal Associate degree,” Little said. “I had no real knowledge of Durham Tech prior to that, but it had the specialized program I needed so it was the place for me.”

On behalf of Durham Tech, I want to congratulate Principal Renita Griffin-Jordan and her team at City of Medicine Academy and Principal Lamont Dixon and his team at the Durham School of Technology High School for being named Schools of Distinction and Schools of Excellence, respectively, by Magnet Schools of America.
This July, recent Durham Tech graduate Liliana “Lili” Bolanos Arbaca participated in the University of North Carolina EDGE Genomic symposium. EDGE, or Educational Pathways to Increase Diversity in Genomics, is a two-year summer program providing training in research skills, career opportunities and mentoring to undergraduate students, specifically first-year students and sophomore from underrepresented and disadvantaged, who are interested in genomics careers.
