News: Seven Durham Tech Students to Attend NC State on Prestigious Goodnight Scholarships
Seven Durham Tech students will be attending NC State beginning this fall on Goodnight Scholarships, valued at $23,000 per year for up to three years for transfer students from low- and middle-income families in North Carolina who are studying in a STEM or STEM-education field.

Two Durham Tech students are now on the road to Tesla after finishing at the top of their Tesla START program class.

News: Durham Tech’s Dr. Abe Dones selected for Aspen Institute’s prestigious Rising Presidents Fellowship
The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program announced today that Dr. Abe Dones, Durham Tech vice president and chief student services officer, is one of 40 leaders selected nationwide for the 2025-26 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship. Rigorously selected from among more than 120 applicants, fellows will learn from — and apply to their own contexts — lessons from more than a dozen years of Aspen research about how to lead an institution to higher and more equitable levels of student success.

News: 60 for 60: Durham Tech sponsored archaeological dig in 1981 to study Black history at Somerset Place
In the summer of 1981, then Durham Technical Institute sponsored an archaeological field school to study Somerset Place’s enslaved community and early history. It was the first archaeological project at Somerset Place to focus on uncovering Black history. Students uncovered two unknown buildings along the historic shoreline of Lake Phelps and found thousands of artifacts.
News: Durham Tech Little Free Libraries thrive with Book Harvest partnership
With about 150 books being donated from Book Harvest every month, the Little Free Libraries at Durham Technical Community College are flourishing.
Little Free Libraries, a decade-long global movement, are stations where people can grab books for free and bring their unwanted books for others to enjoy. The Durham Tech Little Free Libraries were installed last year on Main Campus, Orange County Campus, and Northern Durham Center.
