Project SIGHT

Project SIGHT is a program of Durham Tech's Community Health Lab. Developed under the guidance of Durham Tech's Opticianry program, this initiative seeks to help people overcome barriers due to vision deficiencies at no cost.


Our Services

Opticianry program student giving an eye exam to another student inside the mobile labIn collaboration with our community partners, Project SIGHT provides:

  • Vision Screenings – certified vision screeners through Prevent Blindness North Carolina certification program
  • Eye Exams – comprehensive eye exams provided by volunteer optometrists or ophthalmologists
  • Prescription eyewear – fitted and dispensed by Opticianry students supervised by NC Licensed
    Dispensing Opticians
  • Education – information about eye development, eye care, and eye safety

Project SIGHT provides services for Durham Tech students, K-12 public and charter schools, community-based organizations, and our current partner organizations; insurance not required.
