Viva the Arts
Since 2000, the Viva the Arts Committee has provided arts events and activities for students, employees, and residents of Durham and Orange counties. From visual and performing arts, literature, and film, these programs enrich the college and its community.
Viva the Arts supports creativity, artistic development, and community connection, reflecting Durham Tech’s belief in the arts as crucial for learning and engagement.

D. Thomas Jaynes Art Gallery
Established in 2022, the D. Thomas Jaynes Art Gallery features student and guest art installations, exhibitions, lectures, and other events. Located in the Wynn Center (Building 10) Multipurpose Room, the gallery honors retired Executive Vice President Danny Thomas “Tom” Jaynes for his 30 years of service to Durham Tech.
Past exhibitions have included painter Elizabeth Reeves Lyon, numerous student art exhibitions, and installation of civil rights leader Floyd B. Mckissick Sr.’s life and legacy in partnership with the Museum of Durham History.
