PCB Design and Manufacturing (Continuing Education)
Short Term
Students who complete the program can expect to qualify for entry-level roles in board design and manufacturing such as:
- PCB Design Technician
- PCB Prototyping Specialist
- Electronics Technician
- Test Technician
A high school diploma and basic computer skills are required. Previous experience working with electronics is recommended.
- Course Overview
This course emphasizes training in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, layout, and manufacturing processes. Students learn how semiconductor devices and integrated circuits are applied in schematic capture, PCB layout, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
Students will gain practical experience using Altium Designer, an industry-standard PCB design software, and develop skills aligned with current workforce needs in electronics manufacturing such as:
- Schematic design and PCB layout
- Component selection and circuit design principles
- PCB fabrication and assembly processes
- Design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Capstone project involving full PCB design cycle
- IPC Training and Certification
After completion, students should complete IPC Training and Certification.
Students who complete both ELN-3025B and IPC Training and Certification qualify for jobs requiring knowledge of manufacturing quality and standards such as:
- Junior PCB Designer
- PCB Designer
- Hardware Design Technician
- Design Verification Technician
- Hardware Technician
- Electronics R&D Technician
