Goals and Objectives

Durham Tech supports all of its employees in their growth and professional development journey. The work of Teaching and Learning supports the College’s vision to be a learning college where everyone is a learner. At Durham Tech, professional development is a collaborative and holistic process. Its success heavily relies on the support of employees and their willingness to share their talents and practice.

Activities

Teaching and Learning is focused on providing professional development activities that support the attainment of our strategic goals. We know that student success is the ultimate aim of the college. These activities support achievement of this goal. Every semester Teaching and Learning invites faculty and staff to share knowledge and best practices aligning with the college's strategic goals.  You are encouraged to submit a presentation outline. You are welcome to submit a proposal. Should you need guidance on a topic of interest, feel free to email cle@durhamtech.edu.

Durham Tech supports and encourages professional development that respects diverse perspectives and allows for open discussions without compelling individuals to adopt specific beliefs. This approach contributes to a positive and inclusive professional learning environment.


Submission of Proposal Timeline

  • Fall semester: Submit by May, no later than June
  • Spring semester: Submit by November, no later than December

A call for presenters at the beginning of April for the Fall semester, and November for the Spring semester. Presentation proposals are welcomed throughout the year, before the deadline. Presentations requested during the semester are tentative. A decision will be made and communicated to the presenter in the event the presentation can be added to the calendar.
