Creative Writing (Continuing Education)

Short Term

Explore creative writing with the art of fiction writing and poetry.

Fiction writing allows students to explore multiple writing and revision techniques and workshop each other's original work. Students will also read an extensive variety of fiction (short stories and novel excerpts) through the lens of craft.

Students will explore multiple writing and revision techniques and workshop each other's original work in poetry writing. They will also read a range of contemporary poets through the lens of craft, theme, and genre. The class will culminate with a Poetry Reading by participants.

In both courses, students will be given weekly writing exercises as optional prompts.

Courses starting on July 1 or later will be open for registration on July 1. Students planning to register for courses with prerequisites should contact the program director to learn how to submit them ahead of time.
