News: New virtual reality glasses enhance student training in Durham Tech Public Safety program
Through a pair of dark lenses, Durham Tech paramedic student Thomas Doty could see a patient lying down with a blood clot in their right leg.
He reached out to navigate through the augmented reality simulation as he watched the scene unfold.
The simulation was viewed through the Emergency Medical Science program’s new set of augmented reality glasses – a device that allows its users to virtually view what happens inside the body it’s hit with a disease or medical condition.
News: Durham Tech announces Dr. Kara Battle as Chief Academic Officer
Durham Technical Community College has announced longtime Durham Tech leader Dr. Kara Battle as the College’s new Chief Academic Officer after a nationwide search and interview process.

Battle, the former Dean of Science and Math programs at Durham Tech, was instrumental in restructuring the College into Guided Career Pathways and in merging continuing education and curriculum programs in recent years. Since Spring 2021, Battle has held the Interim Chief Academic Officer role following the departure of Dr. Susan Paris.

There are two pathways for students to transfer to a baccalaureate science degree in Information Technology at a four-year college or university.

Associate in Engineering students Jeanette Jarvis and Rosa Perez have received the Women of Color STEM grant award from North Carolina State University. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Associate in General Education in Nursing
The Associate in General Education (AGE) in Nursing is designed for students who wish to begin their studies toward the Associate in Nursing degree and a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
News: Durham Tech students gain access to work-based learning scholarships thanks to Wells Fargo
The Wells Fargo Foundation recently granted $10,000 to the Durham Technical Community College Foundation to fund work-based learning scholarships.
The grant will provide 20 scholarships for students in the Career and Technical Education program for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters.

Two Durham Tech students are now on the road to Tesla after finishing at the top of their Tesla START program class.
With assisted job placement after the program, Patrick Myers and Brendan Sanders started as Service Technicians at the Tesla Service Center in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Aug. 20.
Public Safety Administration - Transfer Associate Degree
The Public Safety Administration Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree curriculum is designed to provide students, as well as practitioners, with knowledge and skills in the technical, managerial, and administrative areas necessary for entrance or advancement within various public safety and government organizations.
