Information Technology

University Transfer Options

Students have two paths to a bachelor's degree in Information Technology. The Associate in Arts (AA) degree will transfer to all UNC System schools, most North Carolina independent colleges and universities, and most out of state institutions. In addition, Durham Tech has several university partnerships (bilateral agreements) that allow a student who completes the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree to transfer to specific colleges or universities.

Associate in Applied Science (AAS)

Western Governors University (WGU)

Durham Tech has partnered with Western Governors University (WGU) to develop bilateral agreements, for a seamless transition into their baccalaureate programs. For Durham Tech students who complete one of Durham Tech's five Information Technology AAS degrees, Associate in Arts (AA), or Associate in Science (AS) degree, only one additional year of online courses at WGU is needed to complete one of WGU's seven Information Technology Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees.

Suggested university transfer options for Durham Tech Information Technologies AAS programs:

•    Software Development AAS to Computer Science, Software Development, Data Analytics
•    Web Development AAS to Software Development, Data Analytics, Information Technology
•    Network Management AAS to Cybersecurity and Information Assurance
•    IT Cloud & Systems Administration AAS to Cloud Computing, Network Operations and Security
•    IT Service and Support AAS to Information Technology

View the WGU Transfer Pathway Agreements (pdf) for the complete list of pathways and transferability.

East Carolina University (ECU)

Durham Tech has partnered with Eastern Carolina University (ECU) in the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) Transfer Program. Students who have been awarded an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree with a minimum of a cumulative 2.5 GPA from the list below, may apply for transfer to the BSIT program with a concentration in Information & Computer Technology.
