Expanded Loaner Laptop Program and Computer Skills Tutoring
The library is excited to announce that we now have a total of 254 loaner laptops (Dell and Acer) for students to borrow for the semester. Students who need a computer and who are currently enrolled in any Durham Tech course are eligible to complete the Computer Request Form to apply. Maggie West, Coordinator of Student Wellness and Basic Needs, receives all applications and will assess if a Chromebook will work or other options are available to meet current academic needs. Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts
The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate fine arts degree (BFA or BAFA) within four years. AFA curriculum courses focus on visual arts but the degree also includes general education offerings that emphasize the development of analytical skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science.
Industrial Systems Technology - HVAC Certificate
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems are widely used. The HVAC certificate program will teach you more about the inner workings of these devices.
Industrial Systems Technology - Advanced Manufacturing AAS
The six-semester Advanced Manufacturing Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree program covers essential skills needed in the advanced manufacturing field. Courses discuss print reading, hydraulics, welding, PLC, and work cell integration.
Finish Line Grant
The Finish Line Grant program helps students complete their education when facing unforeseen challenges. In partnership with the Durham Workforce Development Board and the Regional Partnership Workforce Development Board, Durham Tech offers access to these funds for students who have completed at least 50 percent of their credit or non-credit program and are in good academic standing.
News: 60 for 60: Newton Makerspace unveils STEM-centered collaboration space for students
In September 2022, the Newton Makerspace was unveiled on Main Campus -- made possible by a contribution from Newton Instrument Company. The need for the high-tech makerspace was identified in 2018 when college leadership recognized the increase in industrial trades and the need to attract more students into this growing field. This type of collaborative, project-based learning environment would mirror the workplace through innovation -- supporting students in engineering, skilled trades, construction, art, welding, and design. 
Surgical Technologists
Surgical technologists create a sterile field in the operating room, set up required instruments, pass instruments to the surgeon, and handle specimens.
Customer Service Success (Continuing Education)
The Customer Service Success program focuses on the importance of customer relations in the business world. Emphasis is placed on learning how to respond to complex customer requirements and to efficiently handle stressful situations.
