Resources
- College Foundation of North Carolina’s Assessment Tools: Several free career assessment tools at CFNC.org will help any job seeker explore how he or she as a person matches with careers. Included are an interest profiler, career cluster survey, basic skills survey, transferable skills checklist, and work values sorter.
- Explore career interests, the labor market, and job market with My Next Move.
- Ferguson's Career Guidance Center: This database offers job and industry profiles, job hunting and workplace skills, career exploration, and industry resources all in many formats, from streaming video to chat. Visit the Library’s Articles, Journals, and Databases (choose F for Ferguson's). Log in off-campus by using your Durham Tech username and password--the same one you would use for Canvas or Self-Service. Not affiliated with Durham Tech? Check with your NC public library for access information.
- Strong Interest Inventory: The Strong Interest Inventory is a career assessment tool that connects the job seeker’s interests with possible career options and is a useful tool for people who are uncertain about their interests. Even those who know their likes and dislikes might find that the inventory verifies that they are on the right track or suggests occupations or career areas that they might not have ever considered.
