What should I bring to my New Student Orientation?

Students attending a New Student Orientation should bring a phone with a camera and an internet connection (QR codes displayed during orientation), as well as something to take notes with like a pen and paper.

Where do I go for my New Student Orientation?

Students who sign up for a New Student Orientation in-person will receive an email notifying them of where it will be held.

For virtual sessions, email notifications will include a Microsoft Teams link. Once you join the session, you'll be placed in a virtual lobby until the presenters are ready to admit students to the live presentation.

What if I am late or miss my New Student Orientation?

Students who are more than 15 minutes late or miss their New Student Orientation may go back and sign up for another upcoming session.

What if I do not see any upcoming New Student Orientation dates?

If New Student Orientation dates are not yet available to sign up for, please proceed with meeting with an academic advisor.

Are accommodations provided at New Student Orientations for students with special needs?

If you are an individual with a disability and need an accommodation(s) for New Student Orientation, contact Accessibility Services at 919-536-7200 ext. 1105. Please give staff at least two weeks notice prior to the orientation you are registered to attend to process your accommodation request.

For virtual sessions, please note that AI assistants or other transcription and recording tools are currently prohibited.

What is my next step after completing New Student Orientation?

Students are required to check in with their Academic Advisor every fall and spring prior to registering for classes. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis and walk-in advising is available daily during business hours.
