Information Technology Credit by Examination

Credit by Examination is currently available for CIS-110, CTI-110, and WEB-110.

Eligible students who wish to apply for IT Credit by Examination must:

  1. Notify your instructor that you are interested in earning Credit By Examination
  2. Complete a Credit By Examination Application (located in the drop box outside of Tech (Building 9), Room 230B)
  3. Bring your completed application to the Student Information and Records Office in the Wynn Center (Building 10) on the second floor; staff will sign and stamp your application for approval
  4. Bring your signed and stamped application with you to your exam session
Exam Overview

The exam is computer-based and graded automatically upon submission. Students will be notified if they passed by the end of the exam session. 

During the exam session, students take a pre-test and a post-test. Students must pass the pre-test (with a score of 85% or higher) to be eligible to take the post-test. A score of 85% is required to pass the post-test.

  • Please arrive for the exam on time. If you arrive late for the exam, you will be denied admission.
  • Exams can only be taken once. Students who do not pass their exam must complete their course to earn credit.
  • Students who wish to take multiple CE exams can only take one exam per session.
     

If you pass:

  • Do not drop the course; you need to be on the course roster to receive grade of CE
  • Your instructor will be notified that you will receive a grade of CE
