Interpreter (Continuing Education)

Short Term

The Community Interpreter International course prepares students for a career as a community or medical interpreter. Topics include the interpreter's role, interpreter code of ethics, standards of practice, modes of interpreting, note-taking techniques, memory development, strategic mediation, interpreting in healthcare, cultural competence, and strategic mediation practice.

Instruction is in English. Participants are matched up in language pairs. ALL language pairs are welcome. This is NOT a language course.

Self-study materials and textbooks are included. Students must be age 18 or older.

Registration for Summer 2023 closes June 9.

Courses starting on July 1 or later will be open for registration on July 1. Students planning to register for courses with prerequisites should contact the program director to learn how to submit them ahead of time.

SEF-CII2 Community Interpreter International
