Natural Hair Care (Continuing Education)

Short Term

The Natural Hair Care program is designed to teach how to care for natural hair without the use of chemicals such as perms/relaxers and hair color. The style techniques include braiding, twisting, wrapping, extending and locking natural hair. The coursework also include teaching the proper health, safety, and sanitation procedures to avoid spreading infections. The students will be able to apply their skills to clients who visit the clinic.

After successfully completing the course, the students will be able to sit for the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art's exam to become a licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist.

This is a two-part course. The $1,901.50 cost of the program is broken down into two payments:

  1. The first payment of $1,207.25 is due at the time of program registration and includes tuition, a kit, and books.
  2. The second payment of $703.25 is due at the time of registration for the second half of the program.

As part of the program, students develop skills during clinic hours. View the Natural Hair Care Salon hours, services, and scheduling information. Natural Hair Care program students complete 100 percent of the work and offer services at a reduced rate to employees and the public.
